About Resthearth

Resthearth is an independent editorial guide to the bedroom environment — the temperature, air, light, mattress and bedding that shape a night's rest.

What we publish

Resthearth answers focused, practical questions about the room you sleep in: whether a room is too warm or too damp, how often bedding needs washing, how a mattress should be turned, and how to darken a bedroom that lets in the morning too early.

We write about the environment and the objects in it. We do not diagnose sleep problems, recommend supplements, or offer medical advice, and nothing here replaces guidance from a qualified health professional.

How we research each guide

Every guide starts with a specific bedroom decision rather than a reusable template. We compare guidance from sleep and housing organisations, public-health bodies, allergy charities, university extension material and manufacturers' instructions.

When a reliable number exists, we state it together with the conditions that make it true — a washing temperature, a humidity level, a comfortable temperature range. When the answer depends on your mattress, climate, fabric or room, we say so instead of inventing a universal rule.

Who writes the guides

Resthearth is an independent editorial desk. Our guides are researched and edited in-house and published under the Resthearth Editorial byline rather than a personal name — because we do not want to imply credentials or personal experience that we do not have.

Every guide is written from the sources listed on the page, checked against those sources before publication, and revised when guidance or official advice changes. We do not claim to have tested products, examined patients, or carried out original research unless a page says so explicitly.

We do not publish invented author biographies or invented credentials. If we later add a named contributor, their page will state what they actually do.

Corrections and feedback

Guidance and products change. If you spot a broken source, an unclear step or something you believe is wrong, email the page title together with a short description, and we will review it. When a correction changes the advice, we update the page and its date.

Independence

Advertising, if shown, supports the site but does not determine what our guides conclude. An advert is not an endorsement. Any sponsored or affiliate content would be identified clearly.

Our boundaries

  • No medical, veterinary, poisoning or emergency advice.
  • No invented tests, guaranteed outcomes or anonymous product endorsements.
  • No claim of a single "correct" answer where personal comfort is the deciding factor.

If you have a health concern, contact a qualified professional rather than relying on a bedroom guide.
